Hi, I’m Eve, Founder of Alive Accelerator and a Chief Evangelist, originally from Russia. In 2015 I moved from Moscow to Silicon Valley with my tech startup. We were developing a new software for augmented and virtual reality smart glasses. During my relatively short five-year journey through the startup landscape I’ve been through ugly founder breakups, I’ve lost plenty of money, way too much time, and I ended up in the hospital from exhaustion from too many 100 hour weeks. At that point when I was as close to broken as I’ve ever been I knew something had to shift.
In a moment of clarity after I found myself in a thoughts of texting my mom a final goodbye from what I thought was my hospital deathbed, I saw my life for mostly what it was… a terrible waste of time spent struggling for success and something that wasn’t true to my deepest self. A life lived without conscious purpose. After my fortunate 4 weeks recovery I couldn’t shake the knowing that the entire startup culture of workaholism and pushing our limits is completely insane from the conscious point of view. I decided to prove that it can be changed with a positive impact on ecosystem.
But we have a real problem. Silicon Valley is suffering from a shortage of truly fantastic leaders. The horrific tales of suicides, families being torn apart and, of course, severe depression, were rampant. While I certainly recognize that these issues are not unique to startups and that they’ve been around for millennia, I knew that the amount of pressure in our work culture that’s producing these results is unnecessary. I believed in a better way, though I hadn’t found it at that point. But find it, I did!
It has since become my life’s mission to teach the empowering skills and life strategies I learned throughout my recovery on a path to living a sustainable life in Silicon Valley. Through my travels in Asia and Russia, studying Transpersonal Psychology, CosmoEnergetics, ancient shamanic healing traditions and other energy healing practices I unearthed some gems of wisdom, which sparked continuing research to develop strategy for enabling my fellow startup enthusiasts and entrepreneurial thought leaders to become less stressed, more educated, more productive and more focused when it comes to their wellness and purpose… despite the constant barrage of change and tribulation.
By blending current science with ancient philosophies and practical methodologies, I have succeeded in finding balance in my life and
it’s my duty to accelerate the development of brilliant venture-funded founders whose companies are growing faster than their leadership skills. According to Harvard Business Review, more than 50% of venture funded startups fail due to poor leadership and co-founder conflict. This is a real crisis.
I believe the first important step to take in this process is to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health issues in the entrepreneurial and startup realm. This will only happen when we openly and regularly discuss the issues, demonstrate that it’s ‘human’ to have these challenges and to share our stories of how we’ve overcome them. This challenge inspired me to develop pioneering new methods that accelerate the transformation of internal obstacles, and unleash inherent leadership talent.
The Alive community is a safe space for you to find your sanity in a challenging world and a deeply felt sense of connection, commitment and values alignment. To equip you with tools that will strengthen you and empower you to live a life that is fulfilling at every level, and without having to make sacrifices that really aren't worth making.
I believe in entrepreneurial development as a powerful field that can steer immense social change through conscious choices in our startup and corporate eco-system, that lead to a healthier, happier, more prosperous world.
Yours sincerely,
Eve
